What's Strange Empire like? And where could I find it online? (I don't get the CBC channel.)

Strange Empire is the feminist (and female-centric) western you've (probably) been waiting for! I don't like to slip trigger warnings in at the last minute, so please know that SE has a LOT of rape/rape culture, racism, murder, etc. BUT for all its thematic fail, I love SE. It is, as I said, a Western taking place on the Montana/Canada border. It focuses on three "families" -- Kat Loving, a half-native sharp-shooter and her adopted children, Rebecca Blitheley, a (probably autistic) doctor-in-training and her husband, and Isabelle Slotter, a former sex worker now married to a shifty entrepreneur. In addition to lots of the classic Western story lines and issues, there is also an element of Spritualism woven through the series that I find fascinating. There is also a gender-non-conforming character named Morgan Finn (the writers and actress consider him to be two-spirit, but it hasn't been directly addressed).

As for finding it online, I'm told that you can watch it on the CBC website, outside of Canada using the Hola chrome extension. Or... less legal ways.

You did say open to suggestions, I just wanted to say I am all about Helena my precious child. Though there's such an amazing cast in general I know you'd never get everyone's fave in five slots.

Oh wow! I'm proud of this fandom~ I was gonna say a lot of fic is Delphine/Cosima but I didn't think they'd actually gone over the limit! :D
